Some time back we featured the very lovely Bold & Noble type maps as a learning edition to your newbie’s nursery. And although it doesn’t have the same soap opera familiarity as the London map the new Dublin print is a very welcome local edition. Available unframed in sea green or sheer slate here.
These have been around a while but if you are starting to plan out any city vacations for the year they might be a nice travel treat to invest in for the kiddos (and also for adults like myself who cannot fold maps). Like they sound, Crumpled City Maps are maps that can be mashed into a ball, shoved in the bottom of your bag and survive. 100% waterproof and designed to be light, the junior editions feature a bright design and “not to be missed junior locations”. Available for New York, Paris, London, Amsterdam and Berlin from Palomar.
I have so many lovely things in my inbox that I want to share and so little time at the moment to do it. Babatude Boutique is the newest loveliness to come our way. Introduced to us by director Joanna Barclay they stock a range of products for play, decor and to wear from an international collection of artists and designers including many which are fully fairtrade, organic and pledge part of their sales to charity. Just launched in the last two weeks head over early to browse a range of products that you won’t see in every other store. My current favourites are definitely the baby youda vest, felt world map and birdhouse light. Check out the full collection here.
Ok you may have seen these everywhere (most recently on Boz Around and Bambino Goodies) but it’s with good reason. In case you have missed them L’Affiche Moderne sell affordable prints, canvas and Dibond mounted illustrations and, my favourite, maps and educational images. I’m just sharing them here as I don’t think I’m allowed buy any more prints. These are my two favourites so I look forward to maybe seeing them on your walls… View the full range here. (Oh, and make sure you try out their In Situ section where you can choose from room types to view your picture in)
Love these handmade to order globes from ImagineNations. The maps on the globes may in many cases be out of date but these will definitely still inspire the imagination and spirit of adventure. (via BB Blog)
Still on the quest for the perfect world map home accessory, Pedlars’ have quite a good choice available with a couple of new ones in for Christmas. The scratch map has a foil layer that can br scratched off to show countries you have been to, want to go to, the choice is yours. The soft map is definitely a good one for interraction with little hands and magnetic one is definitely one for a long term commitment.
For the geography loving parent trying to grow their young minds, world maps are a must have. For those of you looking to localise a little more or if you just like a nice framed print to inspire their aesthetic sense then the current range of Bold & Noble prints will fit the bill. Choose from Australia, New Zealand, USA, London, and the more controversially named British Isles, type maps and if you order before 24th December receive a special edition A4 design absolutely free.
