Fashion is always changing! Fashion is always changing. Remember the bell bottoms of the 1980s? Or the low-rise jeans? They are long gone! In the last decade, we have seen so many fashion trends come and go, like jeggings or anarkalis. Even the duration of trends is shorter these days. Certain trends, like coloured jeans, lasted for only a few short months. Fashion calls them ‘Classics.’ We bring you a few classics that you can always count on.
Little Black Dress
The ‘Little Black Dress’ (LBD) would win if there were ever a fashion rule that every woman should own at least one dress. The LBD can be worn casually, formally, or as party wear. Its origins date back to Coco Chanel in the 1920s. These dresses are short, simple and structured. These dresses are considered a classic in women’s clothing and have never been out of fashion. Kate Moss, Audrey Hepburn and Lady Diana Spencer have all dazzled us in their LBD. What’s keeping you from buying one if you don’t already own one?
Denim Fabric
Denim has been a part of fashion for 140 years and has shaped the industry in ways you could never have imagined. This fabric was invented by Jacob Davis and Levi Strauss in 1973. Workers originally wore it as a way to endure heavy manual labour. Denim was first used to make jeans. Now, we can find denim shirts and jackets as well as hats. Fabric is durable and long-lasting. Denim has always been a fashion staple, and a good pair of denim jeans should last forever. Denim has become the uniform of many people around the world.
Tuxedo Jacket
Jackets and coats have been a staple of men’s fashion since the 1880s. The Tuxedo-style jacket was introduced to women’s fashion in 1966 with Le Smoking, a collection by Yves Saint Laurent. Le Smoking tuxedos for women were created by combining ideas from both men’s suits and women’s clothing.
Tuxedos initially provoked a negative reaction, but later, they became popular as an alternative to the LBD. These suits, designed with a narrow waistline and long trousers to enhance the feminine shape, are now classified as ‘Pant Suits and Power Suits’ to reflect their influence.
Animal Print
It is a fascinating story of how animal prints became popular in fashion. The Europeans brought back animal skins from Asia and Africa and used them to make clothing. People were fascinated by these prints and began reproducing them on fabrics. These prints are still awe-inspiring to designers (and us!) two centuries later. They keep appearing on fashion runways. These prints are popular because of the neutral colour combinations, such as black, white, and brown. Our designers have now taken this print to a new level by adding hot pink zebra prints.
Sarees
Sarees, was it ever out-of-fashion? Sarees are a favourite of many Indians, not just Indians. The versatile 6-meter-long fabric has been a staple for Indian women for centuries. Sarees complement the feminine side of women and allow them to keep up with the latest fashions. It can be in the form of drapes or prints. What is the best option for you? Formal, semi-formal or casual? There are sarees for every occasion, and you can’t categorize them into one category. This image shows how women recently draped sarees. We tell you there is no wrong or right way to drape a Saree.
Everyone constantly struggles to decide ‘what to purchase’. It’s important to have a reliable guideline. Here are five fashion trends that you can count on.
