The Fashion Month of Fall/Winter 2025 was a great time for lovers of lace skirts.
The Gucci design team, working interim until Demna is in charge, went with some sassy midis without slips and added a few floral appliques for extra coverage. Saint Laurent’s Anthony Vaccarello transformed a doily-like fabric by using it on a pencil skirt with a sheer overlay.
There was also the scene outside the runway shows in February and March. The industry was awash in netted, wedded mesh, and tatted garments. This is no doubt due to the fact that the look has been a hit for the spring/summer season of 2025, as it had prime spots at Michael Kors 3.1 Phillip Lim and Jonathan Simkhai.

These fabrics have a special place in fashion history. The intentional mismatch between the hard and soft texture reads as ineffably chic. This feeling is intensified by the statement snakeskin boot and oversized shield sunglasses in this example.
Fancy Shacket
A boxy embellished shacket (aka the “shacket”) is a surprising choice. The crisp, straight cut of this jacket helps balance the more fluid and softer shape in the lower half. This is a great option for a date where you’d like to show some skin, but not in a very obvious way.
Sneaker Chic
Where are you? No problem. Pair your lacy skirt and an oversized sweater with your favourite sneakers (soccer is a popular choice at the moment) to create a feminine and playful look that you can use for running errands or for brunch with your bestie and devouring a giant basket of fries and drinking mimosas.
Matchy-Matchy
If you’re in doubt, a lace midi skirt paired with a loose sweater in the same colour will make you look chic and cosy. You can earn extra points by matching your hair colour to the separates, but this is not required.
Denim Darling
This combination is a more quirky alternative to the leather and lace mix-up. It still looks tough-guy-meets-girly, but it’s a little more relaxed, especially if you choose a slouchy jean top. Dress it up with heels and a structured bag.

The best way to wear a see-through skirt with ease is to pair it with a shirt which covers your entire backside. Even if you pair it with socks and loafers, a streamlined tunic will look more elegant than a baggy or loose-knit tee.

The feminine midi in this picture could easily be deemed fussy due to its mermaid-tale silhouette and doily finish. What if you add a chocolate bomber in a soft, buttery brown and large sunglasses to the mix? The final product is polished but has just enough edge to stand out.

Have you heard? The trend of wearing skirts over pants has definitely returned. One way to get the look right now is by pairing straight-leg jeans and a see-through asymmetrical piece on top.
